Abby Syrja

Abby began dancing at the age of 3 starting in ballet.  From that point on, she fell in love with dance. She joined Dream Dance Company at the age of 6 wanting to pursue dance competitively. Through the years, Abby has trained in ballet, pointe, jazz , lyrical, modern, acro and hip hop and has competed at multiple out of town  competitions including Hall of Fame Dance Challenge, Applause  Talent, Canadian National Dance Championships, Starpower, Celebration Talent and Masquerade .

Abby’s love for dance introduced her into doing duets, trios as well as solos starting at age 7 in many disciplines of dance including acro, jazz, lyrical and her favourite, ballet. In her solos, she has received many overall placings, platinum and elite scores, special awards from the judges at dance competitions as well as special awards at the Dream Dance Annual Banquet including best technique and most improved. Abby’s most recent accomplishments include receiving 1st runner up for the junior dance bowl at the Lakehead Music Festival of the arts (2013) and winning the Fort William Rotary Club Ballet Plate for her demi-pointe solo at the Lakehead Music Festival of the arts (2014). Wanting to extend her skills in ballet even more, Abby auditioned for the National Ballet School of Canada and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.

For the past couple of years, Abby has shared her love for dance with young dancers being a teacher’s assistant and she is very excited to join the teaching staff at Dream Dance Company to teach and inspire dancers of her own.
