Harmony Appell

Harmony was practically born in the studio, starting dance at the age of 2 and a half. For the past 13 years she has thoroughly enjoyed her time in the studio and on stage. Since the start of her young dance career and up until recently she has had much success.

Harmony has auditioned for and successfully been invited to attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet school’s summer intensive program in 2008, the National Ballet of Canada’s one month summer program in 2009 and most recently the 3 year, post-secondary Teacher Training Program at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in 2015. She has competed in the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Youth Talent Search since the age of 6 receiving 1st, 2nd and 3rd and has made it to the top 10 in the senior division.

In December of 2008, Harmony auditioned for a part in the Moscow Ballet Company’s production of Sleeping Beauty and was successfully chosen as one of the 12 local dancers and in 2010, was chosen again, as one of the local dancers for their Swan Lake Performance.

She has taken classes with many well known choreographers and dancers from the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” as well as professional choreographers around the world such as Blake McGrath, Lara Smyth, Jayme-Rae Dailey, Kevin Mylrea and Ryan Kasprzak, Willdabeast, Jenn Parsley, Justin De Bernardi, Nico Archambault and Miles Faber, Rustin Matthews  and many, many more.

In 2007, Harmony received the RBC Silver Plate for her demi-pointe solo, the All Around Senior Dance Bowl for the highest overall combined marks in 2011 and the Sylvia Horn Memorial Scholarship for a promising student entering post-secondary education who has been extremely successful in her choreography as well as her own dancing in 2015 at the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts. Most recently, in 2016, she was awarded the Fort William Rotary Club Silver Tray.

At various workshops locally and internationally, Harmony has won outstanding scholarships to locations all around the world including Paris, LA, Montreal and New York. Some of her most prestigious awards include top overall soloist, most potential, most outstanding and special awards like best costume and emotional execution.  Harmony has recently been titled Senior Miss Masquerade at the Masquerade Dance Competition in Duluth 2 years in a row. She has also received many exceptionally high marks and placements on a variety of different performances.

For many years, Harmony has assisted a variety of classes at the studio for dancers from the ages of 3 and up in jazz, ballet, lyrical and tap and is looking forward to another successful year as part of the Dream Team teaching staff.
